2.5″ x 2.5″ Tintype
Dan Kennedy & Nicole Truax, United States
The model is Nicol Truax and she helped collaborate on the piece. Nicol is holding road flares.
When Dan’s image was first revealed, it caused quite a stir online. We’d like to share some of the remarks here:
Camera Karma said: I really like this image. The dress makes it almost comical, like she’s a neighbor stopping by to borrow a cup of sugar. The fuse box and what looks to be an alarm system keypad lend to the narrative and pov of a shut in. The mask then is another barrier that only the shut in may see. This piece is so layered.
Gerald Figal said: I guess I’ve seen too many J-horror films shot in abandoned warehouses, but now that you mentioned it, it DOES look lke a neighbor come to borrow a cup of sugar …. OR TO EAT YOUR BRAIN!
Shane Balkowitsch said: I also love the fact that this plate is only 2.5″ x 2.5″ in size, such a small package packs a punch, and also shared this fascinating insight into the deeper meanings of Hannya mythology.
